Eco-Friendly Printing and Going Green

eco-friendly green printing

In a time when people are recognizing how delicate the environment is, it’s important that we all make small changes in the way we live and conduct business so that have a positive impact as a whole. We at MVP Printing are proud to have taken the initiative towards increasing our environmental awareness and reducing our carbon footprint by making responsible ink and paper choices, reducing energy consumption and other significant steps in offering more eco-friendly products. Inks

Soy Based Inks

MVP Printing was one of the first printers in the nation to switch from traditional petroleum based inks to soy-based inks. Soy-based inks, also known as Vegetable Oil ink, is a fantastic alternative for many reasons. To start, soy-based ink is more environmentally friendly due to its simple composition compared to petroleum and it also consumes much less energy to produce making it very efficient.

Another advantage of soy-based ink is that it allows for a clearer and more vibrant display of color, where as petroleum-based inks are little more muddled since its color is much darker naturally. Soy ink is also much easier to remove from paper, thus making recycling easier, quicker and more efficient.

Paper Coatings

Another step we’ve taken in assuring that our products are environmentally safe is using UV and Aqueous coatings that have very little to zero Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) to reduce harmful components that damage the surrounding environment and atmosphere. Our production facilities are constantly researching and utilizing safer and eco-friendly press room products. All solutions are recycled, and hazardous waste is removed from facilities to prevent it from getting into the natural environment. Our production facilities are also alcohol free, using alcohol substitutes.

Paper Choices

Paper is obviously an essential ingredient in the printing industry. The paper that we use is produced specifically for making paper and is not made from illegally deforested trees. MVP is always in talks with our paper distributors in finding and purchasing paper from responsible sources, and is constantly looking for the highest quality paper while being mindful of our environment.

Conclusion

We at MVP will continue to use the safest and least polluting materials in printed products and will continue to make changes as they become available to us through advances in technology and information. As various companies step up to the plate to do their part in helping to protect our environment, we all as individuals should also strive to make more environmentally conscious decisions in our purchases, regardless of their size or what they may be. Together we can make a difference!
